Herreid, a 1991 graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with a BFA in Jewelry & Light Metals, found her calling early in life. At age 14, her fascination with metalwork was fostered by a Concord, MA art teacher who, quick to recognize LeeAnn's talent, volunteered her own torch and took the time to teach LeeAnn to solder. Two short years after graduation from RISD, Herreid founded her company, Individual Icons. The name goes right to the point of Herreid's art: jewelry that gives the wearer an expression of personal meaning through functionality. Her inspired line of jewelry is both symbolic and beautiful.

LeeAnn Herreid's work is available in galleries and museum shops throughout the United States and abroad. Her pieces have been praised internationally, featured in numerous magazines and multimedia. Herreid has also received enthusiastic letters from grateful Individual Icon owners who, finding themselves lost, have turned to their compass jewelry to help them find their way.

After four years in Newport, Rhode Island, Herreid moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where she spent the next four years taking inspiration from the radical changes in topography, climate and culture. Since then, she has returned to New England, this time settling into the growing community of artisans in Warren, RI. Her newly renovated workshop overlooks the confluence of the Warren and Barrington Rivers in this picturesque town. When she isn't immersed in her work, LeeAnn enjoys traveling, drawing, swimming and snorkeling. She also makes custom work and one-of-a-kind pieces out of stainless steel, 18 karat gold, and platinum.
